John Costigan Residential Center (JCRC)

John Costigan Residential Center is located in Streamwood, Illinois and has a total of 90 beds that offers different residential treatment programs for adolescent males and females ages 12-21. JCRC provides residential treatment services to a variety of populations with lengths of program treatment ranging from 9-24 months for adolescents with long-standing behavioral health problems. The three different treatment programs at JCRC are:

  • General Programs – There are two separate programs divided by gender and age serving male and female adolescents ages 13-17. These programs treat adolescents who have been abused, neglected, experienced extreme violence and abandonment with impairment in functioning in school and the community. The length of program treatment is 12-18 months based on the individual needs of the adolescent.
  • Special Needs Program – There are three programs separated by gender and age serving male and female adolescents ages 13-21 with severe primary psychiatric disorders in conjunction with developmental/cognitive disturbances. This may include mental retardation, severe learning disorders, neuropsychiatry and pervasive developmental disorders. The length of program treatment is variable based on individual needs of the adolescent.
  • Transitional Program – This program is designed to treat adolescent males ages 12-17 with a history of being abused, neglected, experienced extreme violence and abandonment with impairment in functioning in school and the community. In addition, individuals must have a pattern of failed living placements. The length of program treatment is 9-12 months based on the individual needs of the patient.
